Shearwater

Shearwater Vacation Care offers a school holiday program at Tarremah.  The program operates Monday to Friday from 8 am to 5.30 pm

Contact the School for more information about coming programs.

OBJECTIVES OF PROGRAM

To provide students in care with a diverse range of experiences by:

  • To provide an opportunity for children to discover how resourceful they can really be. This is confidence building and forms a sound foundation for enquiry and life long learning.
  • To discover the inherent nourishment in building on the activities and experiences of each day.
  • To build on the experiences of the summer holidays when questions like: How will we measure time? How will we make essential implements for survival? How will we build our shelters? Where will we hold our celebrations? What food shall we eat? How will we record our stories? - were posed. Now we have the challenge of shorter daylight and cold and wet weather to prepare for. These questions will then be answered in really practical, hands on way. Warm slippers & hats, candles and a fire circle will be made and form the centre of food preparation, sharing and celebrating the joys of winter.
  • There will be no ‘electronic’ downtime, but there will be plenty of story telling and fine food to prepare and share.
